The weekend that is now coming to a close has been marred by numerous road accidents in which 9 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured, some very seriously. Today the most serious occurred on the A1 in the Frosinone area, where two young people and their 5-month-old baby lost their lives. The accident, which occurred between Ceprano and Pontecorvo in the late morning, literally brought traffic to a standstill. The two young men, of Calabrian origin, were returning home for the summer holidays. They are the lawyer Stanislao Acri, his wife Daria Olivo, both 35 years old, and their 6-month-old son, Pier Emilio, all from Rossano Calabro. Acri was known in the Ionian city of Calabria. An activist of the 5 Star Movement, in 2016 he was a candidate for mayor of the city, but did not reach the ballot. The family was returning to Rossano after a few days spent in Rome. Last night, however, a very serious accident occurred in Salento: the toll is two dead and four injured. An Audi A/6 and a Fiat Panda collided for reasons currently being investigated. The two drivers, Franco Calogiuri, 2 years old, originally from Surbo and resident in Lecce, and Santo Greco, 41 years old from Surbo, died in the crash at 67 am. The three occupants of the Audi, Calogiuri's wife, the two children aged 10 and 8 and Greco's wife were injured. The conditions of the two women hospitalized at the Vito Fazzi hospital in Lecce are serious. The two children also hospitalized in the same hospital suffered minor injuries. Another serious accident, which resulted in one dead and three injured, one of whom is in very serious condition, occurred along the provincial road that crosses the municipality of Dugenta in the province of Benevento: a 15-year-old girl from Cerreto Sannita died instantly in the impact. The young woman was traveling aboard a Fiat Panda in the company of three other friends, two boys and a girl, aged between 18 and 20; for reasons still being investigated, the small car went off the road. A 22-year-old boy later died in a road accident in Rotella (Ascoli Piceno) where the young man lived. The victim was driving a car that went off the road for reasons that are still being reconstructed. A 42-year-old man from Roccaspinalvedi (Chieti) who was out in a group with other bikers for a mountain tour lost control of his motorbike, fell and died on the 'Francesco Paolo Longo' viaduct that connects Molise and Abruzzo. The accident occurred in the Belmonte del Sannio area (Isernia). The 118 doctors could do nothing but certify the death. It is not excluded that a burst tire may have been the cause of the accident. Six people were also injured, three of them seriously, in a head-on collision between two cars in Campagna Lupia, on the 'Romea' state road. The firefighters who arrived from Mira secured the vehicles and extracted three people who were trapped inside the cars, who were stabilized by the Suem 118 staff and then taken to the hospital. Three other occupants of the cars suffered less serious injuries. A fatal accident occurred late yesterday evening in Crevalcore in the province of Bologna, when a motorcycle collided with a car: the 46-year-old motorcyclist, originally from Eastern Europe, died in the impact, while the occupants of the Ford Focus, a 74-year-old couple, were injured and were transported, with a medium-gravity rating, to the Maggiore Hospital. Finally, a forty-year-old man was seriously injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a Fiat 500 this morning in Busto Arsizio.
