A few months ago, he updated the cover photo of his Facebook page with a phrase that now seems almost sadly prescient: "I had a dream like everyone else, it was not to end up like everyone else." Pasquale Carlino, a 16-year-old from Gragnano, a highly promising attacking midfielder for Inter's youth team, unfortunately saw his dream of playing for the champions of "Magical Inter" vanish, most likely forever, two nights ago when, along with an 18-year-old friend, Giuseppe Longobardi crashed his motorcycle into a parked car on Via Polveriera in Santa Maria la Carità. Now, that boy "with a great footballing future," as football experts had predicted, lies between life and death in a room at Umberto I Hospital in Nocera Inferiore. He has a concussion of the facial-maxillary head with a cerebral hemorrhage. His condition is desperate. All of Gragnano is praying for Pasquale's safety. His father, a well-known local pizza chef, had moved to Milan to pursue his son's football career, where he opened a pizzeria. He lives in Paderno Dugnano with his family. He had arrived in Gragnano a few days ago for a short vacation with his family. The other evening, Pasquale, after spending the evening with friends, had climbed onto his powerful motorcycle, accompanied by Giuseppe Longobardi, an 18-year-old also from Gragnano, for a spin. Unfortunately, on Via Polveriera in Santa Maria la Carità, Giuseppe lost control of the motorcycle and they crashed into a parked Opel. The impact was devastating. Giuseppe is now hospitalized at Cardarelli Hospital with a guarded prognosis, but his condition is not life-threatening. Pasquale's life, however, hangs by a thread. Giuseppe Longobardi has also been charged because, given his license, he was not allowed to ride that type of motorcycle or carry passengers.
