Cinderella the Cat is a 2017 animated film directed by Alessandro Rak, Ivan Cappiello, Marino Guarnieri, Dario Sansone, with Maria Pia Calzone, Alessandro Gassmann, Massimiliano Gallo. Cinderella the Cat is the cruel nickname given to little Mia by her stepsisters in the modern and Neapolitan reinterpretation of the classic fairy tale by Giambattista Basile. Daughter of Don Vittorio Basile, a man of great ingenuity who had the project of transforming Naples into a virtuous city of science, Mia was orphaned after Salvatore Lo Giusto, known as “'o Rre” (Massimiliano Gallo), the head of a money laundering clan, killed her father with the help of the beautiful and lethal Angelica Carannante (Maria Pia Calzone), Basile's betrothed. From that moment on, the girl is forced to live on a decommissioned cruise ship in the port of Naples, together with her wicked stepmother and six despotic stepbrothers, silently hatching her revenge: to kill Salvatore 'o Rre and free herself and her city forever. Primo Gemito (Alessandro Gassmann), a former man in Basile's escort, also carries out the parallel project of restoring legality to the port of Naples and saving Cinderella from Angelica's clutches.
