Mystery in Pietravairano in the province of Caserta for the death of 45-year-old Arturo Izzo, whose body surfaced yesterday morning from the waters of the Volturno river. The man ran a croissant shop in Piedimonte Matese. Not far from where the body surfaced, his car, an Audi A4, was found. The body was spotted by a fisherman who then alerted the police. According to an initial reconstruction, it should be an accident. The man may have slipped while walking along the banks of the river and then was no longer able to reach the shore, dragged away by the current after hitting his head and losing consciousness. For the moment, the Carabinieri, who are conducting the investigation, are excluding the possibility of aggression (no signs of violence were found on the body) and suicide. Investigations are underway into the man's life. Family members and friends have been questioned and smartphones and computers have been analyzed to verify contacts or whether the man left any trace useful to the investigation. The autopsy will clarify the causes of death.
