“To dispel the fog of our dark times, we must take up the sword of culture”. With this phrase Peppe Barra draws the last warm applause from the audience, who flocked to the Belvedere of Capodimonte last night to listen to his concert-show “E cammina cammina”, the third event of the July music festival dedicated this year to the great Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini, on the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of his death.
Over five thousand people on the lawns – among the audience also the director Sylvain Bellenger and the mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris – to listen to old and new songs by different authors, in a crescendo of emotions and music: from the masters of the past such as Nino Rota, Basile, Ferdinando Russo to the reinterpretation of songs by contemporary authors such as Vasame by Enzo Gragnianiello and Cammina, cammina by Pino Daniele, from Shampoo by Giorgio Gaber to No woman no cry by Bob Marley which becomes Non chiagnere chiù up to the recited texts of Tiempo in which the artistic creativity of the Neapolitan singer and actor finds its highest peak, in this eternal journey of music and poetry. Grand finale with Tammurriata nera famous Neapolitan song written in 1944 by EA Mario (music) and Edoardo Nicolardi (lyrics). Alongside Peppe Barra on the stage of the Belvedere Paolo Del Vecchio, guitar-mandolin; Luca Urciuolo, piano-accordion; Ivan Lacagnina, percussion; Sasà Pelosi on bass; Giorgio Mellone on cello.
Capodimonte is increasingly opening up to all forms of art, now Peppe Barra, a great, refined and cultured master of popular music who narrates and cures the anxieties and difficulties of our lives, after the success of the Popular Music Festival, the recently inaugurated exhibition by Paolo La Motta and that of Carta Bianca. Capodimonte imaginaire and L'Opera si racconta con Konrad Witz, the film festival – says the director of the Museum and Real Bosco Sylvain Bellenger – we promote cultural diversity, always supporting without compromise the quality, knowledge and intellectual creativity, but also botany, environmental education, sport and the social mission of museums that must stimulate curiosity in the public, give space to difference, culture and freedom. A museum is a place where you learn the art of living and respecting others, against all forms of obscurantism, closure and narrowing of identity”. And he continues: “Then the forest: an entire world added to the Capodimonte museum is my priority in 2018, now there are more than 2 million visitors who take advantage of this gigantic green lung. My management, without compromise, supports the free entry of the Forest and all the numerous events organized in it with ever greater regularity”.
The Peppe Barra concert was promoted by the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte and the Amici di Capodimonte onlus association, organized by Ravi Class Eventi and realized with the support of the Rossopomodoro company.
