The program of the Premio Charlot, the comic arts festival created by Claudio Tortora and dedicated to the great Charlie Chaplin, is getting into full swing. This year it is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary with a very rich calendar that will culminate with the gala evening and awards ceremony, next July 28th.
In this prestigious edition, the collaboration with the International Short Film Festival “Tulipani di Seta Nera” also arrives. The “mission” of the Festival, which has been held in the heart of Rome for twelve years now based on an idea by Paola Tassone, is to open, thanks to the short film and the partnership with Rai Cinema Channel, a glimpse into the uniqueness of each person and promote the work of young authors who, with their works, tell “not the simple story of a diversity – explains Tassone – but the essence of diversity itself, knowing above all how to enhance it”.
The Charlot Award was created to honor the figure of Charlie Chaplin, who was certainly a forerunner of short films but above all an artist who, with a smile, addressed strong themes of diversity.
The purpose of this new and important collaboration is to ensure that diversity is seen in its many positive aspects, leaving in all those who will participate not only a food for thought but also a cultural enrichment so as to create a new supportive society. The camera becomes the means through which to film the consciences of young people and all people, healthy carriers of culture, directing them towards a harmonious and unprejudiced path, leveraging the new generations, who thus become a sensitive, supportive and integrated community.
The commitment of the organizers is to put together their experiences to ensure that the "short film", the younger brother of the film, but above all the social short film can grow year after year in the two events and gather more and more consensus both among fans of the genre and among service workers.
This new collaboration between Tulipani di Seta Nera and the Charlot Award includes the screening, from July 8th to July 15th, of the winning short films of the individual sections and special awards and of the XNUMXth Edition of the International Short Film Festival “Tulipani di Seta Nera” at the cinema hall of the Teatro delle Arti in Salerno according to three themes that best unite the individual works. To these is added, for the particular theme treated (the mafia seen by kids), also the short produced by Ficarra and Picone “Processo a Chinnici”, directed by Marco Maria Correnti, from an idea by Giovanni Furnari, which sees all very young debuting actors as protagonists.
During the gala evening, which will be held on July 28 at the Arena del Mare in Salerno, there will be a moment dedicated to the “Tulipani di Seta Nera” Festival, coordinated and presented by Metis Di Meo, and on this occasion the jury of the Charlot Award will present an Award to the Festival for the strongly social activity carried out to date.
The godfather of the 10th Edition of the International Short Film Festival “Tulipani di Seta Nera”, Gianmarco Tognazzi, will be present and will receive a special recognition for having helped, with his face, his professionalism, his humanity and his cheerfulness, to raise public awareness on social issues without pity but with a smile.
All screenings will take place from 21.00:XNUMX PM onwards; admission is free.
