Findus is recalling several batches of frozen minestrone due to a risk of listeria. Adnkronos reports the recall, emphasizing that it is a voluntary and entirely precautionary measure. "The decision was made in line with its policy of maximum consumer protection and the quality of its products," the company explains. The "voluntary and entirely precautionary" decision to recall these products, the company emphasizes, "was made following a report from supplier Greenyard of potential listeria contamination in a batch of green beans, a small portion of which were used in the recalled products."

Findus would like to point out that the category of products subject to the recall "is for consumption only after cooking, as clearly indicated on the packaging. Cooking the product eliminates any potential health risk", the company underlines. The recalled batches are: Minestrone Tradizione 1 KG (batch L7311, L7251, L7308, L7310, L7334); Minestrone Tradizione 400g (L7327, L7326, L7304 and L7303); Minestrone Leggeramente Sapori Orientali 600g (L7257, L7292, L7318, L8011), Minestrone Leggeramente Bontà di semi 600g (L7306). The information on the production batch, Findus specifies, "can be found in the white box on the back or on the side of the package where the expiry date is also shown".

Listeria is a family of bacteria consisting of ten species. One of these, Listeria monocytogenes, causes listeriosis, which affects humans and animals. Listeriosis is rare but often serious, with high rates of hospitalization and mortality.
