The 'Ndrangheta feud also reaches Canada: an ambush in Toronto, where a man of Italian origins, Cosimo Commisso, 33, was killed along with his girlfriend, Chantelle Almeida, 26. According to the Canadian newspaper National Post, the man, originally from Locride but resident in Vaughan, has no criminal record, but is said to be linked to the important organized crime family in the Toronto area and, according to police sources cited by the newspaper, "has personal ties to criminal figures".
The ambush took place in the Vaughan area of Woodbridge, a neighborhood with a large Italian population. North York police are working to trace the dynamics of the facts. The victims died instantly, hit by gunshots. The restaurant of Cosimo Commisso's family was in the news last year for a shooting, a waiter was grazed by a bullet in the head that fortunately caused only a minor injury. It was not an isolated case, with arson and shootings in several bars, cafes and homes in Vaughan, all events linked to the feud of the 'Ndrangheta of Reggio in Canada.

“Investigators,” the National Post writes, “believe Commisso was linked to John Ignagni, 33, who was killed in an ambush in the garage of a downtown Toronto apartment building in 2016.” The double homicide occurred Friday night and the killers shot at the SUV in which the two victims were traveling.
