About one hundred and seventy students, plus many experts, tutors, teachers and ATA staff, collaborators and support figures for a total of two hundred people, followed with commitment and interest the path "Mo' ve conto a' terra mia" started by the Istituto Comprensivo 3 Ceschelli of San Giuseppe Vesuviano focused on the discovery and valorization of local culture and traditions. Last July 2nd at the Museo Contadino of Somma Vesuviana the final event of the project was held, relating to the second year of the Por Scuola Viva. The students of the Primary and Secondary schools were engaged in six modules through which they told and experienced the language, the uses and the customs of our land. A journey into tradition made through workshops: theater, ceramics, biodiversity and territory, photography, knowing the flavors, voices, sounds and popular dances, these are the areas that allowed the young people to know and deepen the best of the their territory has offered and still offers today.
The final and main moment on July 2nd at the Museo Contadino in Somma Vesuvina: the protagonists were the middle school students who brought to the stage a part taken from Giambattista Basile's masterpiece "Lo cunto de li cunti", a fairy tale story in the Neapolitan language from 1634 that long anticipates and inspires the birth of European fairy tale literature, already containing the most famous fairy tales from which the Brothers Grimm and Perrault took inspiration. The kids, wearing period costumes, immersed themselves in the many stories and studied the original language, with the addition of a brilliant touch of modernity brought by the actors Rosario D'Angelo and Tiziana Mastropasqua, exceptional directors. The fabulous setting of the Museo Contadino that hosted the performance completed the success of the performance.
The primary school students performed folk songs and dances in period costumes, presented the artifacts created during the “ceramicando” workshop and improvised as cooks to learn the typical dishes of the Vesuvian culinary tradition. The secondary school presented the works created during the photography workshop, an emotional journey through the expressions of the children that they themselves immortalized to represent the personal changes of adolescence combined with experiences of their own life. Other students dealt with biodiversity, also creating a real vegetable garden inside the school spaces, putting into practice the rural arts of the past.
The purpose of the course was to introduce the younger generations to the origins and history of the territory, through Basile's great literary work, but also through knowledge of the traditions, crafts and typical local products, with the objectives of enhancing the great territorial heritage and passing on knowledge and keeping the memory alive. "We firmly believed in this project - said the Director Dr. Angela Agovino - for which all the school staff took action, together with the parents who allowed the children to participate, bringing a breath of great enthusiasm, demonstrating that they always have a great desire to do and that this school, despite being considered on the outskirts, can itself represent an excellence of the territory."
