Directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo, "Mamma Mia" is the musical of the year at the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival. The three male leads will receive the award on July 20th: Luca Ward, Sergio Muniz, and Paolo Conticini, while Massimo Romeo Piparo (director, author, producer, and artistic director of the Teatro Sistina) was awarded the Ischia Enrico Job Art Award, a recognition of creativity commissioned by Lina Wertmueller to commemorate the artist and set designer. The show, featuring music by Abba, is set to become the most-watched musical in Italy in the last ten years, with 200,000 spectators in just 110 performances. It is produced by PeepArrow Entertainment and the Teatro Sistina. The cast includes Sabrina Marciano, Elisabetta Tulli, Laura Di Mauro, Jacopo Sarno, and Eleonora Facchini, with over 30 artists on stage. A special music performance with the company of Rome's Teatro Sistina is also scheduled for the Global Festival. 'Mamma Mia!' The show will restart on September 29th at the Verona Arena and will reopen the next season at the Teatro Sistina on October 11th, before continuing with performances at Italy's most important theaters through spring 2019. The Enrico Job Award winners, awarded to Piparo, also include Oscar-winning makeup artist Alessandro Bertolazzi, Joaquin Cortes, Arturo Brachetti, Eva Riccobono, Fabrizio Ferri, Nina Zilli, Amanda Eliasch, Ferzan Ozpetek, Marina Cicogna, and Iaia Forte. The full program of the sixteenth Global Festival will be presented tomorrow in Naples, chaired by Cheryl Boone Isaacs and producer Andrea Leone.
