Gianluca Ragno, 29 years old from Sorbo Serpico in the province of Avellino, lost his life around 13.00:7 yesterday, in a violent impact with a van along the Variante XNUMX bis. He was unable to avoid the collision with the vehicle, intent on turning in an area a short distance from the Belsito hotel in Manocalzati. The reconstruction of the accident is entrusted to the agents of the Avellino Highway Police and, involved in the accident also another motorcyclist from the same town who, fortunately, suffered minor injuries.
The rescue team reached Variante 7 bis in a few minutes but the young man was already in very serious conditions.
The facts, however, still need to be ascertained as there are several aspects to clarify. The Highway Police officers, coordinated by Commander Renato Alfano, have carried out measurements and photographic surveys. The statements of the driver of the commercial vehicle, of the other motorcyclists and those of some witnesses have also been collected.
It remains to be seen whether the van slowed down to enter a side street or, on the contrary, entered the main road from a side road to continue along Variante 7 bis. The driver of the van has been entered in the register of suspects for road homicide
The mayor of Sorbo Serpico, Mariateresa Fontanella, was very upset and rushed to the Moscati hospital in Avellino, where she commented on the tragedy in tears. “It’s terrible. I watched Gianluca grow up. A golden boy.”
The body is in the mortuary of the Moscati hospital in Avellino, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority pending the possible autopsy. A long procession of friends and acquaintances throughout the day yesterday went to the facility to gather around the family.
