Naples. This afternoon, Monday, July 2, the Italian Air Force carried out the emergency transport of a young patient in imminent danger of death. The HH139 helicopter of the 85th Search and Rescue Center (CSAR) in Pratica di Mare, in the province of Rome, took off following a request from the Naples Prefecture to the Situation Room of the Air Squadron Command. The Situation Room, in coordination with the Prefectures throughout the country, is responsible for managing missions of this type for the benefit of the community. The helicopter departed from Pratica di Mare and arrived at Capodichino Airport, where, after boarding the child and the medical team, it took off around 19:30 PM for the Vatican City Heliport. Once landed, the young patient was immediately transported to the "Bambino Gesu'" hospital for the necessary treatment. The 85th CSAR Center is one of the units of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force, which provides 24/24, 365 days a year, uninterrupted search and rescue for flight crews in distress. It also contributes to public service activities such as searching for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, providing emergency medical transport for the life-threateningly ill, and providing assistance to severely injured people, operating in all weather conditions. Since its establishment, the crews of the 15th Wing have saved more than 7.100 people in life-threatening situations.
