Two people are under investigation for the death of Salvatore Caliano, the 21-year-old man who fell from the skylight of a building on Via Duomo. One is the owner of the apartment that provides access to the roof of the elevator from which the young man from Vicaria fell; the other is a person also from the building at Via Duomo 238. Prosecutor Stella Castaldo of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, who has been assigned to the investigation, suspects manslaughter. The investigation seeks to determine whether the two suspects were negligent in entrusting a young man with a dangerous task without the necessary precautions and safeguards. This morning, the Prosecutor's Office will appoint an autopsy, which will be performed later today, freeing the deceased to hold the funeral in his hometown of Focella. The neighborhood is still in shock, and Salvatore's death has sparked a two-day debate about precarious employment and work in the South. Meanwhile, his father, Luigi Caliano, a former soccer player for major teams in Campania's Serie D, posted an image on his wall yesterday of a young man in a blue jersey and soccer shorts about to pass through the gates of Heaven. "Teach the angels how to play soccer, you're a champion, Sasà... this isn't a goodbye, but a see you later. You start playing a game of soccer, then when it's my time, I'll come in and play alongside you." A heartbreaking post from Carmen, Salvatore's girlfriend, read: "This cursed night is endless, every ring I hear gives me a shock, I wish it were you. Please call me, I beg you, you left me alone, please, you said we should always be together, that you would always protect me, and now you're not with me." And the online fundraising campaign to help the family pay for Salvatore's funeral continues.
