On the night between Tuesday, July 3rd and Wednesday, July 4th, unknown individuals entered the "Giorgio Mancini" Culture and Entertainment Center, which has hosted the Municipality of Naples' Territorial Education Workshops in Ponticelli since 1999. These workshops offer daily activities for 50 children and young people from the area, aimed at preventing and stemming marginalization and social exclusion. Extensive damage was caused to the workshops' premises in order to steal materials and equipment used daily in the activities: cameras, computers, musical instruments, a projector, a projection screen, a ping pong table, and more. The center's darkroom was ruined and emptied; Some walls have been broken down: a blow to the activities that Arci Movie has been carrying out in Ponticelli for almost 20 years with the "Catrin Project". The former Ponticelli documentation center, a very large, three-story structure, a former farmhouse in the center of the oldest part of the neighborhood, was renovated by Arci Movie between 2016 and 2017 with the contribution of a ministerial project.
A few months ago, on May 8th, there was a ceremony to name the center after Giorgio Mancini, an occasion for celebration and reflection on the commitment and activity that Arci Movie has been carrying out in this area for a long time, starting from the collective history of the association made of care for children, people, relationships and places.

"With this gesture - reads a statement from Arci Movie - all future activity of the center is put at risk, thus depriving the neighborhood kids of a meeting place. A hard blow for Arci Movie that with difficulty remains a stronghold of culture, legality and solidarity in the Ponticelli neighborhood and that carries on a battle that, often, as in these moments, seems 'crazy and desperate'. Faced with these things, which have already happened in the past, our reaction has been and will always be the same... to move forward and insist with everything we do! Arci Movie's will is to give a contribution to this complicated reality of the suburbs, to ensure that young people have spaces and opportunities in which to meet and grow with the right community spirit".
