Naples. The best boost to continue our battle against illegal parking attendants is the one given to us by the many people who, this morning, participated in the extraordinary signature collection organized near the Prefecture of Naples in support of the petition we started to ask for a legislative reform that introduces the arrest of repeat parking attendants. Between the online petition and the signatures collected in person, we have now exceeded 4.000 people in support of our initiative." This was stated by the regional councilor of the Greens, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, and the municipal councilor of the Sole che ride, Marco Gaudini, creators of the Facebook page 'I hate illegal parking attendants' together with the speaker Gianni Simioli of La radiazza di Radio Marte, who promoted, together with Fiorella Zabatta and the Donne Verdi, the initiative this morning. Also participating were city councilor Stefano Buono and metropolitan councilor Carmine Sgambati as well as city councilor Maria d'Ambrosio. “In these days – added Borrelli -, especially after the attack and the damage to the scooter, many have shown solidarity and said they are ready to support our battles, and this morning was a first opportunity to demonstrate that there are really many of us who want to free Naples and other cities from illegal parking attendants”. The regional councilor then illustrated the updated version of the dossier delivered in recent months to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Prefecture and the commander of the Municipal Police of Naples. Furthermore, this morning, Borrelli also met with the police commissioner of Naples, Antonio De Iesu, and the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Naples, Ubaldo Del Monaco, specifically on the problem of illegal parking attendants in Naples and the province. “Among the new features introduced in the new version of the dossier – he explained – is the behavior of some managers and employees of authorized parking lots who also occupy the area outside their garages to park cars that cannot find space inside, creating obstacles to traffic and occupying the spaces of the blue lines without paying what is due and also placing cars in double and third rows and on the sidewalks, in fact behaving just like illegal parking”. “Furthermore,” continued Borrelli, “there is an increase in cases of illegal parking attendants who have illegally enriched themselves despite having no assets. Some of them have purchased properties and even condominiums in tourist resorts in Calabria where they have a significant summer turnover, especially in Scalea and Ascea. Others have bought shops on Via Posillipo worth 500.000 euros and registered them in the names of their children. A well-known parking attendant bragged on social media about buying his daughter a gold kitchen for her wedding. These and other cases demonstrate that these are not poor people but individuals who earn between 1.500 and 6.000 euros a month and yet live at the expense of society, enriching themselves without restraint."
