Yesterday afternoon, agents of the State Police, Scampia Police Station, arrested, in Mugnano, Rosica Gaetano, a thirty-five year old Neapolitan, with a criminal record and under special surveillance, and Mitrovic Ivan, a thirty-five year old Serbian, with a criminal record and an illegal immigrant on national territory, resident in the Roma camp on the external ring road.
The officers of the Police Station carried out an observation service near the nomad camp of the outer ring road, in order to monitor the transits and prevent the commission of robberies. Having verified that the criminals on whom the attention of the operators had been placed had moved to Mugnano, in a land bordering the Scampia district. The officers camouflaged themselves among tall grass bushes and noticed two individuals who were hiding some bags, covering them with straw. Waiting for the right moment, they decided to intervene, blocking the two and thwarting any attempt to escape.
The bags contained a sawn-off shotgun, a CRANAQ ZATTAVA pistol, 7,65 caliber, a BONIFACIO ECHEVERRIA pistol, 9 caliber, with the relative magazines, both of Serbian nationality, complete with ammunition and with erased serial numbers, two original uniforms consisting of jackets, trousers and caps issued to the Carabinieri, two flashing lights, a signal pole, two pairs of handcuffs, two balaclavas, two pairs of latex gloves.
Also seized were about twenty kilos of cigarettes of the State monopoly, robbed shortly before in Casoria, to the detriment of a woman, whose car, an Opel Meriva, had also been stolen. In particular, the unfortunate woman had had a rifle pointed at her face by the robbers, who had their faces camouflaged by balaclavas.
The two men were arrested immediately and taken to Poggioreale prison.
Further investigations are underway to verify whether similar robberies committed in the city with the same methods of disguising themselves with uniforms issued to the Police Force can be traced back to the same individuals, allowing them to easily access the victims' properties, often simulating house searches.
