Big movements in the center left of Campania. After the disappointing results of the last electoral, political and administrative rounds, an attempt is being made to reorganize the ranks by relaunching values and ideas of the politics of action and not party politics in the classical sense.
On Monday 02nd July at 18.00pm at the Ramada Hotel in Naples a new political and cultural association will be born: “Nuovi Orizzonti”.
The association sees the participation of former administrators of the center-left, former parliamentarians, women and men from the world of professions, art, associations.
Also present at Monday's meeting will be Michela Rostan, deputy of Liberi e uguali, vice-president of the Health and Social Affairs Commission. "I am happy to participate in an initiative," says deputy Rostan, "that brings together resources from civil society. The parties alone are no longer able to represent the demands for change that come from citizens. We need to bring people back around a table to start again from ideas, which are the engine of good politics. On the left, we need to talk to social distress. The Istat numbers tell us of an Italy with millions of people below the poverty line, most of them in the South. Who should talk to us, if not the left?"
The association's president will be a former member of parliament and regional councilor like Felice Jossa, a lifelong socialist. "The evaporation of the left - he declares - is the direct consequence of a madness that began 30 years ago. In 30 years, every trace of a shared society has been erased. Of a fair relationship between elected officials and voters, between citizens and representatives, giving more and more space to non-powers, to State bodies that do not respond to citizens and their requests. The cs must resume a path of reconnection with its roots. We think that at this time an association that goes beyond the barriers of the parties is necessary, useful and indispensable. Who are we talking to? To the entire area that sees itself in the center-left, in the values of solidarity, and representation from below. Whoever wants to be there: PD, LEU, Article One, Italian Left, the world of associations, the third sector, etc., will be welcomed. The association also serves to develop a thought that goes beyond the barriers that today no longer find any adherence to reality. We need to rework the concept of the left, talking about work, without considering the entrepreneur a monster to be destroyed, talking about immigration, understanding that without a serious policy of inclusion only pockets of crime are created, and talking about culture. Organizing it, supporting it, making culture POLITICS. Will we succeed? We'll see. We'll certainly try”.
The inaugural event is expected to be attended by the highest representative of the Campania center-left: the President of the Campania Region, De Luca.
During the evening, moderated by Pina Tommasielli, there will be speeches by personalities from the civic world and some members of the association, including Pasquale Giardiello and Gabriella Pepe.
