The theatrical review “Le belle idee” curated by the Accademia Vesuviana del Teatro di Gianni Sallustro kicks off on Tuesday 10 July and continues until Wednesday 18 July 2018 at the Di Costanzo Mattiello theatre in Pompeii. Six days of immersion in the world of theatre among classic and contemporary authors: Scarpetta, Basile, Frayn, De Filippo, Fayed and Sallustro.
The festival is dedicated to Michele Del Grosso, who passed away in January 2018 – says Gianni Sallustro, artistic director of the Academy – because his is a theater of beautiful ideas and small budgets; at zero cost, he produced many shows in which thanks to his beautiful ideas he managed to stage extraordinary shows that marked a very important period in Neapolitan theater and beyond. Beautiful ideas are those that can produce a catharsis of the soul like Theater, Painting, Sculpture, Art and can overcome all the ugliness of life, all those problems that afflict society, like corruption, the mafia, the Camorra. The subtitle of the festival is: “The Camorra is infamous… beautiful ideas like Theater color life”; every evening before the show there will be a screening of the short film based on the book by Gemma Tisci with the title “Ricordi in bianco e nero”, directed by Raffaele Ceriello, starring Gianni Sallustro. The opening show, Tuesday 10 July at 20.30 pm, is “Lo magnifico cunto” by Giambattista Basile, a show in two acts inspired by “Lo cunto de li cunti” by GB Basile. The first act is the story of a group of commoners who live in an imaginary world, fantasyland. They are all characters who are in turmoil because the royals of Naples and England are arriving to organize their children's wedding and they go in search of this famous pastry chef and cook, Totò Sapore, who has to prepare the wedding banquet. The second act is taken from one of the fairy tales also from “Lo cunto de li cunti”, “La gatta Cenerentola” from which great authors of the past such as Disney and the Brothers Grimm have drawn. It continues on Thursday 12 July at 20.30 pm with “Chi dice uomo dice danno” adapted by Gianni Sallustro from “Tre pecora viziose” by Eduardo Scarpetta in which betrayal is the protagonist. There are four husbands who cheat on their wives and girlfriends and get caught. It's all about the plot.
Saturday 14 July at 20.30:1908 pm it will be the turn of “Il Medico dei Pazzi” by Eduardo Scarpetta, a famous comedy written in Neapolitan in XNUMX. Don Felice Sciosciammocca arrives in Naples where his nephew Ciccillo lives, a lazy medical student who has found himself with numerous debts. To pay them off, he decides to plot a deception against his uncle: he therefore lets Felice know that he has now become the owner of an important psychiatric hospital in Naples. Thus, completely unexpectedly, the visit of Uncle Felice arrives, accompanied by his wife Concetta and the family. Thus begins a comedy of errors starring Don Felice.
Sunday 15 July at 20.30:XNUMX pm the perfect theatrical mechanisms of “Noise Off” by Michael Frayn will be performed. The work stages the vicissitudes of a theatre company during the rehearsals and performances of a show, due to the difficulties of the text staged and the relational dynamics between the actors themselves. The Lloyd Dallas theatre company, composed of professional and non-professional actors, is rehearsing the show “Niente addosso” for the last time. The rehearsals for the show are proceeding slowly, due to the continuous hitches caused by technical problems. The show is performed anyway, but the actors indulge in pranks against their colleagues, regardless of the audience in the room: despite the disasters on stage.
“Imperfect Betrayals” by S. Fayed is the show on Tuesday 17 July at 20.30:XNUMX pm. An intriguing story where the comedy of jokes, double meanings and extremely hilarious situations accompany the audience to have fun from the first to the last minute with a fast pace, where humor and Neapolitan style reign supreme. It is a crescendo of comic situations and hilarious moments. Mariano, the owner of the detective agency “Fiat Lux”, Strozzner and his closest collaborators, give rise to a long series of misunderstandings. Strozzner does all sorts of things and poor Mariano finds himself in strange and intertwined situations. Mariano works at home and lives with his sister Caterina who would like to see him married. With a shocking revelation, a person will change Mariano's life.
The festival closes on Wednesday 18 July at 20.30:1940 pm with “Non ti pago” by Eduardo De Filippo. “Non ti pago” is a comedy in three acts written by Eduardo De Filippo in XNUMX. Ferdinando Quagliuolo, manager of a lottery booth in Naples, is an avid gambler who never guesses a winning number. On the contrary, his employee Mario Bertolini, interpreting chance and dreams, always wins; one day Bertolini even happens to win a rich four-number ticket given to him in a dream by the deceased father of his employer, but Ferdinando Quagliuolo refuses to pay him the winnings and withholds the bet, claiming that the fortune actually belongs to him. The deceased father, who came to Bertolini in a dream, has inadvertently made a mistake in his identity, because Bertolini lives in the same house where Ferdinando once lived when his father was still alive. From here, the comedy develops, full of funny curtains and plot twists.
