The Ministry of Health has recalled a batch of "Cesare Fiorucci" cooked ham due to a risk of Listeria contamination. The product is "Cooked ham enough for two people 90 g," batch number 8278001840, with an expiration date of August 5, 2018.
The “precautionary recall for possible presence of Listeria” by the Ministry of Health is published on the ministry’s website. “Consumers who have purchased the product from the indicated batch are therefore asked not to consume it and to return it to the point of sale.” Listeriosis is an infectious disease that is transmitted mainly through food and can cause infections of the central nervous system (meningitis, meningoencephalitis, brain abscess, cerebritis) and gastroenteritis. Symptoms include: “High fever, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, cholecystitis, peritonitis, meningitis, cranial nerve palsy, loss of motor function.”
