Caught on camera. Two young men from the gang who stabbed three young men, all brothers, two of whom were twins, in Piazza Gian Camillo Gloriosi, in the Torrione neighborhood of Salerno, were arrested last night. They are Matteo Manzo, 19, from Pastena, and a 16-year-old from the Smurfs' Village in Sant'Eustachio. The former was taken to Fuorni prison, while the latter was transferred to a reception center for minors. The Carabinieri were able to identify them through images from local surveillance cameras and the accounts of several witnesses. The weapon used during the fight, a 7-centimeter knife, was also recovered. Officers are now working to identify the other members of the gang who seriously injured the eldest of the three brothers, stabbing him at least 30 times. The 26-year-old is hospitalized in the Emergency Surgery unit at Ruggi Hospital in Salerno. He underwent surgery to suture the injuries to his kidney, lung, and intestines. The prognosis remains guarded, but his injuries are not life-threatening. His 22-year-old brother, who suffered superficial injuries, is also undergoing tests, while his twin has been discharged. The motive for the attack is still unclear.
Matteo Manzo, according to the reconstruction of the investigators, would have stabbed the victims. The position of the other arrested person is being evaluated. The gang, according to the images, was composed of at least five people. Their position is being evaluated: whether they actively participated in the attack or whether they only gave moral support, inciting their friends. In the next few hours, the Carabinieri under the command of Lieutenant Taglietti, will carry out other arrests. Also because the reason for the clash that occurred around 1 am must be evaluated. The statements of the three Neapolitans - two of them have lived in Salerno for several years, one is a waiter and another a lifeguard - do not convince the investigators. The
the track of futile reasons does not hold up in the face of such aggression and the presence of a
knife. There could be something more serious behind the clash.
