Extortion, threats, and electoral pacts: these are the charges that prosecutor Vincenzo Montemurro of the Salerno Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) has filed a conviction request for the following: informer Alfonso Loreto (one year in prison because he benefits from the status of a cooperating witness), Gennaro Ridosso (four and a half years), and Luigi Ridosso (five years), who were present in court. This case is an offshoot of the Sarastra investigation, which involves former Scafati mayor Pasquale Aliberti, currently in prison in L'Aquila, his wife Monica Paolino, his brother Nello, and half a dozen other associates of the former mayor. The trial is proceeding using the expedited procedure. Sentencing is expected at the end of July. In his closing statement, the head of the investigation emphasized the credibility of Alfonso Loreto's statements (regarding the alleged electoral pact (2013 and 2015), as well as the extortion and threats) as well as the testimony of another collaborator with justice, Luigi's father, Romolo Ridosso. According to the prosecutor, with the extortion money, the three allegedly created ad hoc companies to insert themselves into the administrative structure of Palazzo Mayer through public contracts in exchange for electoral favors for the former mayor of Scafati, Pasquale Aliberti. Some of these companies allegedly had their registered offices far from Scafati, such as in Castellammare di Stabia.
