Scafati. A warning on Via della Resistenza: seven gunshots fired at the shutter of a men's barbershop. The shadow of an extortion racket may be behind yet another incident that, Tuesday night, plunged the city back into a state of fear. "Bruno Taglio e Fantasia," one of the most popular hair salons in the area, is the latest victim. Seven shots from a 7,65 caliber pistol were fired at close range. Investigators are not currently ruling out any possible culprits.
The execution was carefully planned to send a clear message to the business owner, who assured Lieutenant Gennaro Vitolo's officers that he had never received threats or requests for money. Two men were believed to have been involved, appearing on a large scooter shortly before 1:00 a.m. The two men apparently had plenty of time to dismount, approach the shop, and shoot. The incident was reportedly recorded by one of the security cameras on Via della Resistenza.
This isn't the first time the "Bruno Taglio e Fantasia" shop has been targeted by similar attacks. A few years ago, it was partially destroyed by a massive fire. In that case, a short circuit was suspected from the initial investigation. Firefighters determined that the blaze had primarily affected a section of the shop, where the counter with the cash register and the electrical panel were located. The flames had started from that very spot, quickly spreading inside, fueled by the wood of the furnishings and the contents of the hair products.
