The body of the man found, now reduced to a skeleton, on the outskirts of Piacenza a few months ago has been identified. The man's whereabouts were announced in recent days, along with an appeal for information useful to the investigation. Law enforcement, by cross-referencing his DNA with that of persons missing in recent years, discovered that he is an Egyptian bricklayer who vanished in the spring of 2004 at the age of 28. Eladham Basem, a resident of the Piacenza municipality of Alseno, disappeared on May 31 of that year. He had told his brother, who later reported him missing, that he had an appointment that afternoon with someone who was offering him a job. But he disappeared from that moment on. At this time, investigators, coordinated by Prosecutor Antonio Colonna, have not ruled out the possibility that the young man was murdered. The investigation is ongoing.
