A summary trial has been filed, subject to a psychiatric evaluation, for the 46-year-old nurse from Ciorlano, in the province of Caserta, who killed an elderly man in the Venafro long-term care unit by administering hydrochloric acid to him. Arlen Picano, the preliminary hearing judge for the Isernia Court, has granted the request of Anna Minchella's defense attorney and set the hearing for October 4th to appoint an expert witness. The events date back two years, according to the Carabinieri's reconstruction. The nurse killed Celestino Valentino, a 76-year-old from Pratella, in the province of Caserta, to exact revenge on the daughter of the man who had kept her nursing job in Venafro due to her father's illness, while Minchella had been transferred to the Isernia hospital. To kill the 76-year-old, the woman used a syringe to inject hydrochloric acid into his mouth. The elderly man was transferred to Isernia, where he died a few days later. The images captured by the surveillance system of a shop a few meters from the Venafro hospital, which showed Minchella choosing and purchasing the acid on the same day of the murder, were crucial to the nurse's arrest by the Carabinieri.
