High-powered, high-value cars were quickly dismantled and the parts resold as spare parts. This illegal procedure took place in a high-tech workshop set up in a warehouse in the industrial area of Cava de' Tirreni. Late yesterday evening, police arrested three people: two criminals from Cava de' Tirreni, aged 40 and 47, and a 47-year-old Moroccan resident of Eboli. They face charges of laundering stolen vehicles and installing devices designed to impede electronic communications. Officers caught the three as they were dismantling a car that had been stolen the previous night in southern Lazio. Thieves stole the vehicles, which were then transferred to a specially equipped workshop in the municipality of Metelli. There, the vehicles were transformed into dozens of spare parts. The gang was also able, using a special and sophisticated electronic device, to disable GPS and GSM anti-theft systems. The three suspects' preferred makes were Porsche, Mercedes, and Audi sports cars. During the search of the warehouse, the police also found €2.500 in cash, which was later seized.
