A green vocation and an awareness-raising activity on virtuous practices starting from small individual daily actions that expands with the new initiative launched by the Paestum beach club. In fact, Dum Dum Republic chooses WAMI water – Water With a Mission, one of the most virtuous Italian start-ups in terms of water and environmental and social sustainability, supporting its mission to change the world one bottle at a time. In fact, with each eco-friendly 100% recyclable and reusable bottle, 100 liters of water are donated to those in need.
In fact, for over 700 million people in the world, it is still impossible to reach a source of drinking water and WAMI wants to give each of us the opportunity to be part of the solution, making an ordinary gesture like drinking a bottle of water extraordinary and full of meaning.
Why water?
Most of those who do not have access to safe water sources live in rural and isolated areas and spend many hours of their day walking to fetch the water necessary for their family's survival. The lack of clean water not only puts people's health at risk due to diseases that result from drinking contaminated water, but also takes away a lot of precious time from women and children who usually take care of the supply. Immediate access to water would allow women to dedicate more time to their families and other work tasks, and children to spend more time in school. Often the lack of adequate education is in fact the first obstacle to poverty reduction and precisely for this reason investments in clean water, hygiene and health have a very large economic return on developing communities.
Through expert partners, such as Lifewater International and Fondazione Acra, WAMI builds water projects in villages in need and anyone who buys a bottle of water can already know which project they are funding by visiting, thanks to the code number on each package that allows traceability on the website www.wa-mi.org/progetti.
“At WAMI, we believe in enabling everyone to change the world, every day,” underlines founder Giacomo Stefanini.
WAMI water flows at 1600 meters above sea level in the Italian Alps, from an oligomineral spring in the San Bernardo group, uncontaminated and known for its organoleptic properties.
WAMI wants to give those who consume bottled water on a daily basis the opportunity to make a more ethical and responsible choice. In addition to donating water to those in need, the start-up is also committed to sustainability. The packaging is 100% recyclable and made with 50% recycled r-PET plastic, the maximum allowed in Italy. Furthermore, to further minimize the environmental impact, the company plants trees in Italy, in order to contribute to the reabsorption of CO2 emitted by the production process.
“#ZeroCannucce is now a goal that has been achieved 100%. Now we would also like to move to zero plastic bottles – explains Biancaluna Bifulco, owner of Dum Dum Republic – We don't use the one-liter ones anymore because we only have glass at the table. Instead, regarding the water that is consumed during an entire day, on average a customer buys three bottles, which multiplied by a thousand become three thousand plastic bottles that remain in a single Saturday or weekend. This is where the choice to support the start-up Wami, Water With a Mission, comes from, born from a wonderful idea by Giacomo Stefanini, a very young boy who thought of launching this completely recyclable and reusable plastic bottle with a splendid graphic design. The company that produces it is committed to donating water, building wells in countries that don't have it. A transparent process that can be followed along its path through traceability on the internet. For every bottle sold, pollution is reduced by planting trees”.
Dum Dum CAMPAIGN: “Millions of hearts for one Earth!” #Don’tAskTheStraw
The straw, although it has become an apparently harmless object of our imagination, in reality in its tragic uselessness represents a monstrous disaster for the ecosystem, responsible for the pollution of beaches, seas and the massacre of animal species. Think of devastating images such as the famous plastic island in the ocean.
GREEN VISION WITH LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT that Dum Dum Republic has introduced among its missions for years, avoiding disposables and, where necessary, allowing only the use of biodegradable material. Ceramic plates for lunch, steel dishes and the old glass bottle with a retro charm at the table, wooden trays and recyclable takeaway. “This is a battle that will accompany us in the future – underlines Biancaluna Bifulco – We are already happy, because all our customers have absolutely not protested about the lack of straws, on the contrary they are all happy to contribute to this path, enthusiastic about contributing to this path, they feel part of a community and this also creates greater bonds with the customers, in sharing an objective that goes beyond the philosophy of a party or a venue”.
