Carabinieri officers from the Pozzuoli Mobile Radio Unit arrested Antonio Conte, a 44-year-old local man already known to law enforcement, in Quarto, for attempted robbery and aggravated assault. The man, surprised by a peer while he was attempting to break into his Fiat Panda parked on a public road, attacked him in an attempt to escape, striking him in the hand, arm, and thigh with a screwdriver. The Carabinieri, arriving on the scene and receiving initial information from the victim, shortly thereafter tracked him down and arrested him as he was fleeing the area. The screwdriver was seized along with other burglary tools. Both the victim and the perpetrator were taken to the Santa Maria delle Grazie Hospital in Pozzuoli. The victim suffered the aforementioned injuries to his hand, arm, and thigh (from the screwdriver), which will heal in five days; the perpetrator suffered very minor abrasions that will heal in a day (self-inflicted while struggling to avoid arrest). The arrested man was locked up in Poggioreale Prison.
