“After the cameras of the Municipality of Ottaviano, those are also arriving throughout the territory of the Vesuvius National Park: a great result, the fruit of institutional synergy and the commitment of the Park Authority and President Agostino Casillo, whom I thank”. This is how the mayor of Ottaviano and president of the Vesuvius Park Community Luca Capasso commented on the installation of anti-fire and anti-spill cameras in the Park area.
The presentation of the new surveillance system took place today, in the Palazzo Mediceo of Ottaviano (home of the Vesuvius National Park) in the presence of the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa.
Capasso added: "Thanks to Costa, friend of Vesuvius and the Vesuvians. I ask the minister for a commitment: shed light on past spills, on the damage caused by toxic fires, on the health of citizens. Let's look to the present and the future with confidence, but let's not forget the past".
