Terry Riley, father of minimal music, in concert in Naples

In a national exclusive in the eighteenth-century courtyard of Casa Morra, Terry Riley will perform on piano and synth with his son Gyan on guitar. This event is obviously organized by the Morra Foundation, always attentive to proposing contemporary neo-avant-gardes in the city, in collaboration with EM ARTS.
A unique event for the city of Naples, the great artist of contemporary music who generated the “repetitive” minimalist music, followed by many other minimalist musicians and popular music groups. In recent years he has been on tour with his son Gyan alternating musical moments typical of the folk and jazz repertoire up to, obviously, touching moments of minimal avant-garde.
In the suggestive Casa Morra – Archivio d'Arte Contemporanea of ​​Naples, an exceptional opportunity to listen to and understand the intricate sound structures of the duo Terry Riley and Gyan Riley who, spreading an intense and vibrant energy, expand their particular artistic communication in a neurotic and stimulating way.
Terry expands the boundaries of the chosen structure and thanks to Gyan's 'incitements' they reach unusual directions towards spontaneous and hypnotic creation marathons. This sonic force interacts with the spatial environment and the vigor of the audience, generating an experience of great impact that acts in the depths of the soul.
For Terry Riley, music is a way to connect to a strong, yet indistinct power. Gyan is a classically trained virtuoso guitarist influenced by the rhythmic structures of North Africa and Spain and an expert improviser.
Father and son generate a performance of intuitive correspondences in which they influence each other in an intense and intimate emotional flow. The harmonic structures generated by the piano and guitar, guided by human genius, create deep sound textures that interpenetrate through a mutual capacity for improvisation.
For Terry and Gyan, sound matter is an incessant process coming from the unknown made of modular movements and simple rhythms that are to be understood as a constant universal pulsation.
The concert will take place on July 27, 2018 in the courtyard of Casa Morra in Naples, in via Salita San Raffaele 20/c; starting at 21.00 pm and single ticket of 18 euros.
