The Dum Dum Revolution is about to explode on the beaches of Cilento's happy island for a thrilling weekend of music. Echoing the pulse of Dum Dum Republic on Sunday, July 15th at 17.00:50 PM, the Uppertones will perform at sunset. This sensational band will overwhelm the audience with a sound born in Jamaica in the 8s, blending R&B and Jamaican boogie, calypso and mento, influenced by American rock 'n' roll and rhythm & blues: sounds that gave rise to the ska genre, which later gave rise to rock steady and reggae. A powerful trio of trombone, piano, and drums, they blend swing with Jamaican style. The Uppertones are Mr. T-Bone (vocals and trombone), Peter Truffa (piano), and Paolo Inserra (drums). The band is led by Mr. T-Bone, aka Luigi De Gaspari, a prominent figure on the international ska scene. He has released eight solo albums in the last twelve years and has toured Europe, the USA, Canada, Indonesia, Brazil, and Mexico. His contribution to the Italian ska & reggae scene has been fundamental for over a decade. Peter Truffa is a fabulous pianist and singer from New York. With his blues, jazz, and ska roots, he has toured for years with the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble and with Giuliano Palma and the Bluebeaters. Paolo Inserra is a talented Italian drummer who has previously worked with Mr. T-Bone with his band "The Lions Giovani," which has also toured with Giuliano Palma, Baustelle, and actor Gary Dourdan from CSI. The band released their first album, “Closer To The Bone,” in 2015, on LP and CD by Brainlab Groove: a recording of vintage songs reimagined with Jamaican sounds and that strange blend called bluebeat. The result was astonishing, with requests for live performances from all over Europe and a long tour that ultimately included 200 concerts in two years, playing the best clubs and numerous festivals in over a dozen European countries.
During the long tour, however, the band members still found time to compose many original songs and once they arrived in the recording studio with more than 25 songs ready. Same sound, same musicians, same studio, but this time they tell their own stories in their second album “Up Up Up”.
The opening of the live at the seaside arena will be entrusted to Dj Tuppi, directly from Salento, with his Patchanka made in Puglia.
#SiamoTuttiClandestini – From the fraternal friendship born between Dum Dum Republic and Cucina Clandestina, the evocative performance that will accompany the sunset concert, which disperses the border line between land and sea, develops. What unites the two entities is the sharing of the central theme that will act as a fil rouge through which the 2018 initiative will unfold, namely #SiamoTuttiClandestini. Cucina Clandestina, in fact, is an event that takes place in the historic center of the town of Valle dell'Angelo, in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. Mediterranean diet workshops are organized in the main districts of the ancient village, which can be attended by registering. Particular interest is given to young people and children in the processing of pasta and bread. Tasting spaces are set up, managed by citizens of Valle dell'Angelo and beyond, who prepare some typical dishes of the local tradition. During the days there is space for events of various kinds: musical, food and wine, social and ethno-cultural. Various musicians and artists perform in the alleys of the town. And also oenology workshops, with the participation of famous sommeliers and the collaboration of esteemed producers of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano Park area, in addition to the clandestine earth market, where local farmers, together with those of the Slow Food presidia sell their products.
The long weekend of Dum Dum will open on Saturday afternoon, July 14th from 15 pm with the selections, strictly on vinyl, of Cypriot & O' Falso Baiano: multifaceted selectors, who navigate between the frequencies of Afrobeat, Cumbia, Brazil, but also Funk and the most daring contaminations between African and Latin American music.
As the sun sets, with the first lights of the stars, the magic of Dum Dum Republic is projected into “SHAMANA”, a hypnotic journey, on the thin line between mystical and spiritual vibrations in a futuristic perspective, however. In the console two exponents of the most exclusive clubbing: Aura with her spiritual house and Gianni Romano, creator of the Switch Party. The live set will cross the “Casa Bacardi Summer Tour”, the coolest and most irresistible party on the most beautiful beaches in Italy, with DJ sets and entertainment by RDS 100% great successes, the rhythm of the Sound of Rum and the unique flavor of Bacardi Mojito, cult drink icon of the beach club of Paestum. The Original, prepared with BACARDÍ Carta Blanca rum! Obviously by the legendary barmen of Dum Dum Republic!
