Three-year-old boy who disappeared this morning found dead in canal

The three-year-old boy who disappeared today while walking with his mother on the edge of a canal in Bassano del Grappa has been found dead in the "Vica" canal in Rosa', in the province of Vicenza. According to reports, the discovery occurred around 2:20 PM; the body was spotted in the canal waters by two workers from the Brenta Land Reclamation Consortium, approximately 5 kilometers from where the child disappeared. The firefighters and the coroner were on site to certify the child's death. The current was strong at the point where the child is believed to have fallen, explaining why the body was found 5 kilometers from where he disappeared. To recover the body, it was necessary to lower the level of the Vica canal, which runs alongside Via Prosdocimi. The family lives in an apartment within Casa Colori, a residence set up by volunteers in Bassano del Grappa to house migrants.
