“It is a phenomenon that we are witnessing now with excessive frequency without adopting the relevant measures, despite the fact that it could constitute a serious danger for citizens – says Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari -. I am referring to the gradual disappearance of pedestrian crossings from the carriageways of the roads to allow pedestrians to cross, without them being restored in time”.
"Particularly affected by the absence of zebra crossings is the hilly municipality that includes the Vomero and Arenella neighborhoods," Capodanno specifies. "Just to give an example, pedestrian crossings have disappeared in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro and Piazza Fanzago."
“The situation that arises in highly trafficked areas is decidedly dangerous for pedestrians,” Capodanno continues, “who risk being hit by passing vehicles when crossing the road, often at high speed, on stretches of road where pedestrian crossings are currently completely absent, even though ramps for the disabled are present.”
Capodanno in this regard calls for rapid intervention by the Neapolitan municipal administration, based on a real census of the missing pedestrian crossings, to be carried out promptly by the municipality, immediately providing for the restoration of those faded due to wear or even missing,
