A Roccamonfina the largest frying pan in the world. This nice and curious record has belonged to Portugal for several years: well, from the last Sunday of October, on the occasion of the last weekend of the month dedicated to the 42nd edition of the Chestnut Festival, this record will officially pass into the hands of Roccamonfina and will be certified by the International Commission of Guinness World Records.
The master blacksmiths are busily preparing a perforated pan for roasting chestnuts, a pan, in short, of monstrous dimensions: over 10 metres in length, handle included, and a pot, so to speak, with a perforated surface six metres in diameter and weighing 650 kg, capable of cooking over 1.000 kg of chestnuts in one go!
Obviously the young mayor Carlo Montefusco is satisfied, aware of the fact that this represents a nice return of image for a city dedicated to the chestnut trade:
Many people are working to bring our country into the book of records. Built in iron, it will be a great return of image for the operators in the sector. Because this is also our task Roccamonfina produces eighty thousand quintals of chestnuts every year and for years has been fighting the emergency caused by the parasite called Gall Wasp, which in the past years has destroyed many of the best trees for commercial production, and it seems that, the jinxes are obligatory, it is struggling to get out of it with the introduction of an antagonistic species on site.
