Sschools closed in Procida tomorrow, Monday 29 October. The decision was made by Mayor Dino Ambrosino who today issued an ordinance ordering the closure of all school buildings on the island (nursery, elementary, middle and high schools) in light of the forecasts in the Campania Civil Protection weather bulletin. In fact, for tomorrow, “strong sirocco winds and very rough seas” are expected, the latter circumstance for which “maritime connections with the mainland could be interrupted”. Hence the closure of schools, “considering – as stated in the ordinance – that the schools on the island make use of the collaboration of staff who arrive daily from the mainland” and considering “the strong wind and the risk of storms that could represent a potential threat to the safety of citizens”. The ordinance also recommends “maximum attention” in particular “to the inhabitants of the eastern area of the island, more exposed to the sirocco wind”.
