UAn HH-139 helicopter from the 85th CSAR Center (Combat Search and Rescue) of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force was activated in the middle of the night to transport a seriously injured man from the island of Ischia to the Cardarelli hospital. The helicopter, on the orders of the Poggio Renatico Air Operations Command, which in turn was alerted by the Prefecture of Naples, took off from Pratica di Mare airport shortly after midnight bound for the island of Ischia. Once the injured man had boarded, the helicopter took off for Naples where it landed directly at the Cardarelli hospital shortly before 02:00. The patient was quickly disembarked and admitted for the necessary treatment.
The young man, along with other guests, friends and relatives, was on the terrace of the Grande Albergo Punta Molino, where he was taking part in the celebrations for the baptism of a child. At a certain point, to smoke a cigarette, he leaned his back against the balustrade of one of the fences of the panoramic terrace overlooking the sea but the bar gave way and the young man fell down, violently crashing with his back and head onto the edge of the pavement of the seafront. He was immediately rescued by the hotel staff who alerted 118.
