Roma. The Consip investigation brings with it a new legal problem for four leading members of the force, including former general commander Tullio Del Sette, whose lawyers today received notice of the closure of the investigation against him for revealing official secrets and aiding and abetting. The closure of the investigation into the central purchasing unit of the public administration creates embarrassment for the institution that is already suffering the backlash of the investigations into the death of Stefano Cucchi, with five carabinieri accused in the second trial and at least as many registered in the file born from the statements in court of carabiniere Francesco Di Sano and linked to the alleged lies orchestrated after the young man's death. In this climate, the closure of the Consip investigation gives rise to new controversies over some members of the force. Among the seven people who risk trial, in addition to Del Sette and Emanuele Saltalamacchia, investigated for aiding and abetting, there are also Gianpaolo Scafarto and Alessandro Sessa, the two officers who at the time of the contested events were stationed in the Noe, responsible for the investigations. Scafarto is charged with three episodes of forgery, two of revealing official secrets and one of misdirection, in collaboration with former colonel Sessa: according to the indictment, he revealed classified information to the newspaper 'Il Fatto', while the charges of forgery derive from having altered, in several places, the information on which a good part of the accusations against Tiziano Renzi, father of the former prime minister, were based. Furthermore, at Sessa's request, we read in the notice of conclusion of the investigation, "in order to prevent the reconstruction of the WhatsApp chats, he proceeded to uninstall the application on Sessa's cell phone". General Saltalamacchia, according to what was said by the former CEO of Consip Luigi Marroni whose statements started the investigation, would have revealed to him confidential information on the ongoing investigation. While General Del Sette is under investigation because he was brought into the matter by the then Consip president Luigi Ferrara to whom he would have let it be known that there was an ongoing investigation on the entrepreneur Alfredo Romeo.
