Lhe city of Caserta rises to 57th place in the usual Legambiente Urban Ecosystem ranking, which this year reaches its 25th edition and was published today by Sole24Ore. The capital of Terra di Lavoro gains 38 positions compared to last year's report, when it was 95th, and to 2016, when the city remained at 101st place. A result achieved thanks to the improvements obtained, in particular, in the values of fine dust, nitrogen dioxide, and the increase in separate waste collection from 48,29% to 51,65%.
“Just as we don’t get demoralized if the rankings place us very low,” declared Mayor Carlo Marino, “so today we don’t get excited about the more than comforting result. We know very well that there is still a lot to do on the environmental issue. But one fact is unequivocal: Caserta climbs 38 positions and only Viterbo does better than us, recovering 42 positions. In the special ranking of those who gain the most positions, we are therefore in second place in Italy. And it is no coincidence.,” continues the mayor, “given the commitment carried out on environmental issues, starting with the expansion of the Limited Traffic Zone and the great work we are doing on separate waste collection. Let’s not get excited, therefore, but let’s welcome Legambiente’s 2018 Urban Ecosystem report, whose excellent result must be an injection of confidence,” he concludes, “and a push to do more and better. And let me first thank the people of Caserta because many of the improvements noted, such as those relating to the increase in separate waste collection, are also and above all due to the citizens".
