SThey are accused of fraud and forgery and many are waiting two years after the start of the investigation to define their employment relationship. They are the 33 employees of the ASL of Avellino, doctors, paramedics, administrative and executives, who on March 16, 2016 were arrested or reported for having abandoned their workplace despite having clocked in or had their time clocked in. This morning they appeared before the judge of the Avellino court Pierpaolo Calabrese for the first hearing of the trial that arose from the raid two years ago. Some were filmed by hidden cameras, placed by the agents of the flying squad, near the time clock to verify whether the person inserting the badge was the owner. And the images showed the widespread habit among employees of swiping more than one badge on behalf of colleagues. Other employees, however, were accustomed to showing up at the office, registering their presence and leaving to take care of business that had nothing to do with work. In the images taken by the hidden cameras, one of the employees can also be seen who, having noticed the recording, shows the middle finger in a sign of contempt. In another episode, an employee even tries to tamper with the camera to prevent the filming. Among the defendants is also the former councilor of the Municipality of Avellino Arturo Iannaccone, former director of the ASL Irpinia. The trial will resume on December 3rd with the testimony of the head of the flying squad Marcello Castello who conducted the investigation.
