Antonio Iovine's former right-hand man, Corrado De Luca, and traffic policeman Giuseppe Della Corte will be tried immediately. This was ordered by the preliminary investigations judge, who has effectively opened the trial against the two accused, on various counts, of mafia-style criminal association and domestic violence.
The two positions, however, will follow different judicial procedures. Della Corte, in fact, has chosen to be tried with an abbreviated procedure while De Luca will proceed with an ordinary procedure with the hearing that will have to be set in the next few days by the investigating judge.
In the past few days, meanwhile, the Court of Cassation rejected the appeal filed by the traffic policeman who had challenged the order of the Review Court that had confirmed the precautionary measure issued against him by the Neapolitan judges. For the Supreme Court, "the judges of merit have given adequate account of the elements that emerged during the investigations that formed the basis of the decision, also with reference to the appellant's awareness of De Luca's intervention in his favor". The two are defended by the lawyers Raffaele Mascia and Carlo De Stavola.
