“The eco-bales from Taverna del Re should not be transferred to the Enel plant in Giugliano. Instead, a clean-up operation should be started on the perimeter of the plant. I fully agree with what Minister Sergio Costa said, according to whom the eco-bales should be processed on the site where they are located, creating a recycling district that allows for the recovery of as much material as possible, in the direction of a circular economy that we have been hoping for for years. The Campania Region cannot build a new plant in Giugliano. This area has been disfigured for too many years with garbage dumps and a high concentration of poisons”. This is what the senator of the 5 Star Movement and group leader in the Hygiene and Health Commission, Maria Domenica Castellone, claims.
"The territory of Giugliano and its citizens - continues Castellone - must be given back dignity and decorum and not mortified with yet another site to treat waste. The Region must concentrate its efforts to overcome the large-scale plant and replace it with local composting plants, inevitably and considerably reducing waste travel, focusing every resource on improving waste separation and optimizing the urban waste cycle".
