LJuve Stabia's Coppa Italia ends with a defeat at home against Potenza: 2-1 for the team that thus eliminates the Wasps. The performance was bad and for the first time this season Caserta's men leave the field without having offered a show worthy of note. The many changes compared to the league matches were decisive, and now all that remains is to concentrate only on the league, starting with the derby with Casertana next Sunday.
The first 45 minutes of play between the two teams were balanced, with Mister Raffaele's men at times more dangerous than the home team, who tried to manage possession of the ball without ever passing vertically towards El Ouazni or the two attacking wingers.
The first real chance of the match comes after only 5 minutes in favor of Potenza: Sales crosses an interesting ball towards Genchi, quite free to strike, but his header goes wide of Venditti. But the start of the match is all in favor of the guests, who find the advantage in the seventh minute of play thanks to Leveque: a free kick from the edge of the area is quickly taken towards Genchi, who does well to turn and shoot well towards the goal, Venditti parries the conclusion but the number 20 of Potenza pounces on it, quickest of all to deposit the ball in the net.
The Wasps' reaction, albeit minimal, was with a good conclusion from the edge of the area by Sinani after a tight exchange with El Ouazni, but his conclusion was too central and blocked by Breza. The men from Caserta tried to get around the opposing defense through possession, but their attempts to get closer to the goal were always sterile and imprecise, especially due to the many errors of the team's brain, Vicente, who missed too many even simple balls. If Juve Stabia's conclusions were slow to arrive, Potenza instead came close to doubling the score several times, always with the usual Genchi who, both in the penalty area and from the edge, was always the most dangerous of his team. The only real chance for the Wasps to equalize came from a free kick by Di Roberto from the edge of the area, but his precise conclusion was cleared off the line by an opposing defender.
The second half begins in much the same way as the first, with Potenza close to scoring with a triple chance in the same action: first with a free kick from Matera they put Venditti in difficulty who is unable to hold on, on the rebound Genchi is unable to put the ball into the net thanks to an important flash of the same Venditti, finally Guaita from a very good position shoots high. After a few minutes it is once again Genchi who comes close to scoring but the goalkeeper from Stabia this time is very good at stretching out and deflecting the ball. Unfortunately for Juve Stabia, there is only Potenza on the pitch and deservedly also finds the goal of the double with a beautiful action all vertical: captain Dettori is launched towards the goal but unselfishly serves the onrushing Panico who from two steps puts the ball into the net.
Mister Caserta plays several fields and brings out the heavy artillery with Mastalli, Melara and Paponi. It is precisely the very young midfielder from Milan who finds the goal of 1-2 on a cross from Melara. But it is now too late for the Wasps, the Italian Cup ends with a lackluster performance, Potenza advances to the next phase. Juve Stabia who however leaves amidst the applause of its spectacular public.
