DAfter part of the dam collapsed, at the private Carlo Riva port in Rapallo, several large boats broke their moorings and, pushed by the sea and wind, crashed against the coast. “It is impressive to see the silhouettes of the yachts that are going to crash, passing by in the darkness,” said a witness. The sea was even more violent than the one in 2000 that created a hole in the dam of the Carlo Riva port in Rapallo. Dozens of superyachts, motorboats and sailboats of all sizes crashed onto the cliffs of the seafront, around the ancient castle and on the beach. Apparently, among the boats of the most famous Italian entrepreneurs, a yacht owned by the Berlusconi family also sank. The dam gave way yesterday afternoon and in the following hours the boats began to move towards the opposite shore of the Rapallo gulf, pushed by the waves and the wind, before the astonished gaze of hundreds of astonished people. The damage to the port is currently incalculable but added to that of the vessels that sank or crashed onto the rocks it would amount to several million euros.
