Domorrow all schools of all levels on the island of Ischia (NAPLES) will remain closed. The six mayors of the island decided this at the end of a summit that ended in the evening. The decision was determined by traffic problems along the entire road perimeter of the island, as reported by the mayor of Barano Dionigi Gaudioso. Today's bad weather caused numerous trees to fall, with rainwater pouring down stones and soil everywhere: hence the need to clear the roads and make traffic safe.
The mayor of Pozzuoli has issued an order for the closure of schools of all levels for tomorrow. “It is a precautionary decision,” the note reads, “to allow maintenance companies to restore the full functionality of the buildings after having carefully and thoroughly verified the perfect use of the internal and external spaces.” In Pozzuoli, in fact, there are complaints of significant damage due to the strong gusts of wind that have lashed the entire territory in the afternoon with the collapse of tall trees and branches even inside the courtyards and spaces adjacent to the schools. Problems have also been recorded with the skylights and roofs of school buildings. Urgent interventions have already been arranged to restore the normal return to activities. At the same time, critical issues have been reported for some residential buildings in Monterusciello where the strong wind has lifted the entire layer of sheathing with inevitable water infiltrations on the upper floors. Tall trees collapsed and traffic was interrupted again in Monterusciello, Arco Felice and Rione Solfatara. Via Montagna Spaccata between Pozzuoli, Quarto and NAPLES was closed to traffic due to the collapse of a tall tree. Traffic was diverted in both directions in the old area of Pianura. The road was also interrupted in Viale dei Pini in Varcaturo where a pine tree collapsed. Schools will be closed tomorrow in the municipality of Capri. Mayor Gianni De Martino ordered this a short while ago. Following the adverse weather conditions that this afternoon caused problems mainly for medium-tall vegetation in various areas of the municipality and in particular in the areas outside schools, the mayor of Capri signed an ordinance establishing the closure of schools for tomorrow. “The measure – reads a note released by the Municipality – was taken as a precaution to allow the conditions of the school buildings and the external areas to be verified”. With the same provision, the mayor "invited the population, in the presence of persistent adverse weather conditions, to limit travel within the municipal territory". The closure will affect the four institutes present within the municipal territory: IV Novembre, Tiberio, Ippolito Nievo and Santa Teresa.
