NIn the context of the broader issue of preserving the traditional and characteristic aspect of the historic center of NAPLES, the municipal administration is committed to implementing various enhancement actions, first of all respect for the law, through increasingly frequent checks by the Local Police, in particular, of the historic center. On the front line are the Municipal Police officers, belonging to the UO Contrasto Evasione ed Elusione Fiscale e Tributaria of the Central Directorate of Financial Services who have already carried out more than 200 checks on hotel and non-hotel accommodation facilities. The control activities concern, in addition to the regular payment of the Tourist tax, also the evasion of other municipal taxes. As an example, we highlight the case of a Hotel in Corso Umberto I, which had not paid the tourist tax for the last quarter and did not pay the waste tax. Following a visit by the Municipal Police, it had to pay EUR 21.403,00 for the tourist tax in addition to a fine of EUR 500,00 for failure to pay and received an assessment for the waste tax for the previous five years as the structure had already existed in 2013. Furthermore, among others, a bed and breakfast in the Piazza Carità area was checked, which did not submit the declarations for the tourist tax. The check also revealed evasion of the waste tax, which was ascertained starting from 2013. Following the visit, the tax evaded up to that point was paid for EUR 4.755,00 and the fine for failure to submit the declaration of EUR 300,00. Another case concerns a B&B behind via Monteoliveto, which provided the Tourist Tax office with an inaccurate declaration with respect to the actual presences, therefore, it had to rectify the declaration and pay with the fine the amount actually collected for the tourist tax. The checks also revealed a discrepancy with respect to the SCIA presented and the evasion of the Waste Tax, for which a notice of assessment was issued.
