LThe Naples prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to ascertain any responsibilities in the death of the 21-year-old David Christmas, the 21-year-old student from San Nicola la Strada in the province of Caserta was hit and killed by a tree blown down by the wind. The prosecutor on duty, Catello Maresca, went to the scene of the tragedy and opened a file on the incident. The tree was located inside the green area of the CNR Motor Institute, in Via Claudio in Fuorigrotta. As it fell, it knocked down part of the external fence and hit the student, who was walking on the sidewalk with a classmate. Meanwhile, Mayor Luigi de Magistris, on behalf of the entire city of Naples, expressed "the deepest condolences for the tragic death of the young Davide Natale and is close to his family". The press office of the Municipality of Naples announced this in a statement. "The city has folded in on itself after a dramatic day that cost the life of a 21-year-old. Broken trees, closed roads and accidents in all the neighborhoods that have paralyzed the city. In the face of tragedies, it would be vultures to speculate by arguing or trying to blame. Now is the time of emergency, in which we must first express full solidarity and closeness to the victims and then maximum support to the firefighters and the police forces engaged with professionalism in these difficult hours. But this day cannot pass like this, the time will come for reflection to reason together on structural responsibilities, which in Naples concern urban maintenance and especially public greenery, and the lack of adequate civil protection protocols at the municipal level for events that can no longer be considered exceptional, because events like today's cannot and must not happen". This is what Senator Valeria Valente, vice president of the PD group in the Senate, declared in a note. "I am shocked by the death of Davide Natale. As a Municipality, we will be close to the family in every possible way". This is what Vito Marotta, mayor of San Nicola la Strada, says, who intervenes on the story of the young engineering student who died in Naples after being crushed by a tree. "I know Giovanni Natale, Davide's father; a good family, normal, struck by an absurd tragedy”. The boy's father is a public employee, the family, originally from Pompeii, has lived here for years, in an apartment on Via Patturelli. “The community of San Nicola la Strada gathers around Davide's family. I have heard from many of my fellow citizens: I have felt so much sadness” concludes Marotta.
