SThe 21-year-old man who died this afternoon in Naples after being hit by a pine tree felled by the wind was called Davide Natale. He was born in San Nicola la Strada, in the province of Caserta. The young man was hit in Fuorigrotta, the 118 arrived immediately on site, but there was nothing that could be done for the young man. The young man, most likely a student, was hit by the large tree, a pine, which was in the area of the Cnr Motor Institute, which collapsed presumably due to strong winds. The trunk of the tree knocked down an iron gate and hit the young man who was walking along Via Claudio. There have been numerous reports of collapses between Naples and the province of trees, light poles and cornices, the bad weather that has hit the whole of Campania since this morning has been characterized by rain and tornadoes, in some areas. Traffic at a standstill and roads closed in the city precisely because of fallen trees. There was a lot of fear but no injuries also in another area of the city, in Chiaiano, where a scaffolding of several floors collapsed on some parked cars. "The tragedy of the 21-year-old crushed by a tree is a dramatic event for which de Magistris has very serious and unforgivable responsibilities - denounced the Deputy Coordinator of Campania of Forza Italia Severino Nappi - the maintenance of trees and city greenery is a matter of absolute priority, especially for the safety of citizens. But our alarm went unheard and the consequences were disastrous: the mayor should not dare to blame the bad weather, because the Administrations have the duty to prevent catastrophes and reduce damage to a minimum. Let's put a hand on our conscience". Meanwhile, Palazzo San Giacomo has announced that a coordination table has been active since yesterday evening, convened by the Mayor and chaired by the Councilor for Civil Protection Alessandra Clemente. "They have been engaged in the service of the delicate activities of emergency response and civil protection - reads the note from the municipality of Naples - despite the yellow code, ordinary level of criticality, issued by the regional civil protection control room, the city civil protection teams, all the PIS “Pronto Interventi Stradali” of the municipalities, personnel from the Asia teams, 100 local police officers, the technical vehicles of the municipal fleet, the personnel from the city green service”. An alarm about the collapse of trees has been raised for some time by the regional councilor of the Greens, Francesco Borrelli: “Unfortunately, there is less and less attention towards the trees that are in the cities and anyone arrogates the right to destroy or damage them as we have denounced on several occasions” added Borrelli, recalling “the many reports of abusive and uncivilized parking attendants who, in order to create more parking spaces, have uprooted trees from the sidewalks”.
