It was around 10:30 when at the Corso Garibaldi corner of the Casanova bridge at the traffic lights, where there was the usual line of cars that despite the rain were stationed by the usual window cleaners. Well in the line of cars stuck in the Saturday night traffic one of the boys with a lightning move snatched the smartphone from the hands of a girl who was talking on it. Bad luck for him because in the car behind there was a security guard off duty and a well-known trade unionist for his battles for legality. Giuseppe Alviti, who opened the door of his car while the young man was trying to escape, made him fall to the ground and blocked him. Alviti recovered the phone returning it to its rightful owner while the young window cleaner took advantage of the confusion and managed to disappear into the alleys adjacent to Corso Garibaldi.
“The situation near Vasto is always at maximum alert and right in that area on the border at that moment there were neither police nor traffic wardens, thank goodness there was a security guard”, declared Ivana Boscaino, the young Green activist on whom the predatory act was attempted.
