L: Galleria d'arte Salvatore Serio presents Ri-scoprirsi, a solo exhibition by artist and photographer Marco Iannaccone, aka Scarlet Lovejoy. From 7 to 17 November in via Oberdan 8, Naples. Ri-scoprirsi is the new photographic project by Marco Iannaccone/Scarlet Lovejoy and as always the young artist hits the mark by giving us an original and at the same time profound and evocative photographic work. The project is made up of eleven photographic sequences, each of which consists of six shots. In a current world dominated by exasperated technology, by human relationships that are now only and exclusively virtual where appearance is worth much more than being, the artist Iannaccone offers us, with these photographic sequences, the progressive stripping of being and the environment from all the frills, from all the superfluous that surrounds us to reach the essentiality and concreteness of a body, of a place and therefore re-discover ourselves through a process of purification from the superfluous that daily overwhelms us.
Homosexuality is still seen, even today, in 2018, as a taboo subject to be fought or repressed or, at best, tolerated, a word that in my opinion is extremely offensive; basically I know you exist, I don't like you... I tolerate you.
Even today in many countries of the world it is considered a crime punishable by arrest if not the death penalty. But even here, in a "so-called" civilized country, things are not much better: assaults, beatings, reprisals, bullying episodes against gays are the order of the day encouraged and not punished, among other things, by a government that foments hatred and racist and homophobic intolerance. The performance with annexed exhibition by Scarlet Lovejoy points the finger precisely at this Re-Discovering in the sense that each of us must have awareness of ourselves, of our own body, of our own soul and sensitivity and gradually strip ourselves of all environmental and personal trappings therefore acceptance of ourselves and the desire to be able to freely express our being. Precisely love has no boundaries and is not a crime.
