IThe Carabinieri Agri-food Protection Department of Salerno, in collaboration with personnel from the local Ecological Operations Unit, at the end of a complex investigation, reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nocera Inferiore the owner of a canning company in the Nocera-Sarnese area, considered responsible for attempted fraud in the exercise of trade. The entrepreneur, in order to market a large batch of semi-processed tomato puree that had already expired and was stored in 935 metal drums, fraudulently extended its shelf life by affixing stickers with different production dates for the same batch and expiry date to September 2019. 206 tons of product were therefore seized for a value of approximately 200 thousand euros, effectively preventing the placing on the market of goods with possible risk profiles for public health.
