I CUB workers nationwide have held a sit-in in front of the prefectures to say no to the Salvini decree. “Even in Naples - Marcelo Amendola explains in a statement - we have held a peaceful sit-in in front of the prefecture to defend the freedom to demonstrate, circulate, protest in order to be able to fight against a society where profit counts at the expense of social justice, working and living conditions!. The “SECURITY” Decree, approved by the Senate and under discussion in the Chamber is a set of racist and repressive policies. They concern migrants first. Permits for humanitarian reasons granted up to now in the event of a humanitarian emergency are limited, to foreigners who request them”. And again according to the CUB: “Expulsions for those in political asylum are increasing, increasing the types of crimes that, after a first-degree conviction, lead to immediate expulsion, in this way the principle of not guilty is cancelled until the 3rd degree of judgment. The length of stay in repatriation centers in hot spots, border offices, and police facilities is doubled to 180 days: a sort of prison without a crime. The small centers that host migrants, under the aegis of the Municipalities (Sprar), will no longer be able to accommodate asylum seekers but only unaccompanied minors and those who have already received international protection. The decree does not forget those who fight and provides for a harsher punishment and sanctions in the event of road and rail blocks and occupation of houses, lands, factories and workplaces.
The decree, with art. 23: Reintroduces the crime of road block (including obstruction or obstruction of tracks) currently punishable only by a fine; in its entirety it will be punishable by sentences of 1 to 6 years in prison plus a fine of €206 to €2.064.
With article 30: It punishes the occupation of houses, businesses, lands with a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years and a fine of €103 to €1.032.
The decree also extends the use of the Taser (electric pulse gun) to traffic police officers in cities with more than 100.000 inhabitants.
The intent to disarm those who fight and to limit and strike demonstrations, marches and pickets in the face of growing social conflict, also made manifest by the strike of October 26, is clear. The strength of the mobilizations - the note concludes - represents a nightmare for those who have imposed austerity, precariousness in work and income and are equipped to counter conflict and claims. The nightmares of workers are different and are called: security of income, welfare, work and at work; it is necessary to re-establish the rules of democratic coexistence in the country by canceling the obscurantist decree that masks racist and repressive policies with the guise of security. The democracy and level of freedom of the country are measured by the right of workers and citizens to demonstrate, protest and fight to claim their rights!
